Staff Spotlight: Bali

In this week’s edition of Staff Spotlight, we’re back on the Island of Gods to meet our friendly Karma Concierge Bali team member – Elisa!

Hailing from Germany, and fluent in both German and English, we’re very fortunate that Elisa can assist our German-speaking Members and Owners in their native language. 

Let’s get to know her a little more…

Hi Elisa, where are you from originally and how did life bring you to Bali?

I am from Germany and when I came to Bali it was first only for travelling. However as life had other plans for me, I fell in love with the Balinese culture. I was anyways in a stage of life where I wanted to change my professional direction, and the job opportunity at Karma crossed my way just at the perfect timing. I decided to cancel my flight back to Germany and stayed in Bali instead!

What inspired you to work at Karma Group in the Concierge department and the travel industry?

The engagement with many Members, I love to work in the service industry as I have done this already for many years. I love to travel, what can be better than combining these two and helping others to realise their travel plans?

What do you like to do on the Island of Gods in your free time?

I love to surf and spend most mornings at the beach before I go to work. Furthermore, I have adopted a stray dog a couple of months ago. And of course, exploring and enjoying this beautiful island on day trips with friends on my days off.

If you could book a KG getaway with any historical figure or famous person who would it be and why?

Haha good question. I am not really into the world of celebrities but there are some very inspirational people in my life, one of them is Michael A. Singer.

Tell us an iconic dish or snack from your hometown in Germany that you would recommend?

There is one dish from my hometown which is called “Lippischer Pickert”. It is basically a potato pancake which is fried in lots of oil and served with (of course) German Leberwurst (liver sausage). It is very iconic but not my personal favourite.

What’s your favourite part of being in the Karma Concierge Bali team?

Being part of such a great team! The team spirit of the concierge department is one of a kind and since my first day working here I have got the best support from everyone – Some of them I’d rather call friends than coworkers

Is there a spot in Bali you love to head to after work or on weekends that our Members should visit?!

Of course, all of the beautiful beaches here but my very favourite getaways are the rice field surrounded areas Sidemen (closeby to our resort Karma Royal Candidasa) and Penebel with its beautiful Jatiluwih rice terraces.

Share a travel tip/recommendation for Asia you often give to Karma Group Members…

Especially for Bali, I often suggest splitting the bookings between two or even three of our beautiful resorts here instead of staying in only one area. Bali is so diverse and with our different resort locations, you can explore the beauty of this island even more.
