Karma Bavaria just hosted the European heat of The Ultimate Karma Burger Challenge, a fun and fiercely fought culinary battle featuring EU & UK chefs from across Karma Group properties on the continent each of whom was challenged to showcase their burger-crafting skills, vying for a spot in the grand finale in Bali later this year.
The competition was intense, with chefs presenting innovative creations featuring specialty blended patties, homemade buns, and unique toppings. One burger even drew inspiration from Cretan mythology!
After careful deliberation, the judges – comprising senior Karma Group Management and Karma Group Fractional Members – reached their verdict. In a nail-biting finish, Chef Dario Quinteros of Karma Bavaria clinched the Beef Burger category by a mere 0.1% with his double smash NY Burger, Chef Joe Peden of Karma Lake of Menteith came in a close second.
Chef Dario’s burger was commended for its effortless blend of ingredients, coming together in perfect harmony for an authentic New York City style American double cheeseburger – patty, cheese, pickled cucumber, braised onion and a bun lightly toasted with golden butter all came together to form the perfect combination of tangy, crunchy, acidic, sweet, tender meaty, deliciousness – accompanied by crispy fries, creamy on the inside.
The Non-Beef Burger category saw Chef Maurizio Valentini of Karma Borgo di Colleoli emerge victorious with his Lamb Kofta Ciabatta Roll, impressing judges with its perfect blend of Indian flavours and classic meatball sandwich appeal.
Chef Dario and Chef Maurizio will now advance to the grand finale at Karma Kandara, Bali this October. There, they’ll face off against winners from the India challenge at Karma Royal Haathi Mahal, Goa (23 September) and the recent South East Asia challenge which took place a couple of weeks ago in Bali.
Anticipation is building for the ultimate “Burger Brawl” in Bali… who will be crowned the Ultimate Karma Burger Champion?! Next stop, Goa before the final showdown!
