The traditional English pub is under real pressure. Rising costs, changing habits and the slow retreat of village life have shuttered thousands of locals in recent decades – places that were, for centuries, the beating heart of their communities. And yet the pub remains one of Britain’s most beloved and defining institutions: part social club, part living room, part keeper of local memory.
Karma’s answer is the Karma Country Inn Collection, and it begins this June, with an historic debut. Ye Olde Salutation Inn sits at the centre of Weobley, a mediaeval village in the heart of Herefordshire. One of the best-preserved Tudor villages in England, its streets are lined with timber-framed black-and-white buildings that the Industrial Revolution largely left untouched – which is precisely why director Chloé Zhao chose it as a primary location for her Oscar-winning film Hamnet.

Now open and welcoming Members from 01 June, the Inn brings together the warmth of a proper British hostelry with the considered craft that defines the Karma experience. The menu leans into tradition with purpose: long lunches, local produce and cooking that rewards patience. The must-try is the steak and kidney pudding — beef and kidney in rich gravy, encased in suet pastry and steamed for hours until deeply savoury and tender. Utterly, resolutely British.
As the collection grows, Members will have the chance to explore the English countryside in all its layered character, from thatched villages and ancient parish churches to the arts of bell ringing, centuries-old brewing and a landscape of hedgerows, pastures, moors and waterways that have changed remarkably little in a thousand years.
