Sherry Fuelled Flamenco & Viking Adventures

Summer is festival season in Europe with an array of music, arts, culture and dance events taking place across the continent. As we enter the later phase of the season, here are two festivals close to Karma Resorts that would make a perfect late-summer escape…

In sun-drenched Andalusia, the Fiestas de la Vendimia (Harvest Festival) transforms the historic town of Jerez into a whirlwind of flamenco, fireworks, and free flowing sherry. From 31 August to 08 September, the birthplace of the famous fortified wine comes alive with grape-stomping competitions, equestrian shows, and impromptu street performances. Jerez is around two hours’ drive from Karma La Herriza and it’s a trip well worth making to experience an intoxicating blend of tradition and revelry. After days of festival fervour, retreat to the resort’s tranquil olive groves and indulge in world-class cuisine infused with local flavours.

Meanwhile, on Scotland’s rugged west coast, the Largs Viking Festival also roars to life from 31 August to 08 September. This vibrant homage to the area’s Norse heritage features battle reenactments, traditional music, and a spectacular Viking village. Karma Lake of Menteith, just a scenic drive away, provides a serene Trossachs haven to complement your festival adventures. Imagine returning from a day of Nordic excitement to a dram of exquisite single malt whisky from the Malt Vault gazing out at the placid lake.

Whether you’re drawn to the passionate rhythms of Spain or the fierce pageantry of Scotland and the North, both festivals are sure to offer unforgettable late-summer escapades for all the family.
