On the 3rd of December 1993 a small company with a big vision incorporated itself in India: the very first holiday ownership company in Asia – Royal Resorts. Today, reinvented as Karma Group, the company is one of the world’s leading global lifestyle, leisure and travel brands, offering Members and guests everywhere a perfectly curated combination of unique destination experiences, world class entertainment, artful hedonism and barefoot luxury in the UK, Europe, Asia and Australia…
For nearly three decades, John Spence, Founder, Chairman and Captain of the good ship Karma has steered us on a voyage that has seen our crew and passengers alight everywhere from the shores of South India to the island of Bali; the West End of London to the deserts of Rajasthan; the spectacular peaks of the Bavarian alps to one of Vietnam’s most historic cities; Scotland’s rural heartlands to Thailand’s fabled island of Koh Samui.
But it’s not just scores of award-winning resorts that Karma has brought into being. There are myriad initiatives, businesses, brands and operations that fall under the Karma Group umbrella, all of which combine to make the Group an industry leader – from Karma Spa with its unique panoply of healing modalities, wellness rituals and eco-friendly products, to our award winning collection of destination eateries offering cosmopolitan dining that draws on culinary traditions from around the world, to our well stocked cellars of fine wines and spirits – many of them now Karma branded.
From Bali beach clubs (Karma Beach Bali), to Soho nightclubs (Karma Sanctum Soho, London), ancient Egypt Nile River cruises to high life hedonism in the Cote D’azur plus magical honeymoon escapes, wildlife safaris, skiing, scuba-diving, golfing, theatre, trout fishing, desert adventures… the list of unique Karma experiences and services continues to grow year on year.
The growth of Karma Group is mirrored by our altruistic endeavours around the world through Karma Cares, supporting a wide range of charities and initiatives around education, sport and empowering young people and the vulnerable. We now have a dedicated Head of Philanthropy, Victoria Williamson to help guide and realise the Group’s charitable works across the globe. Karma Group is currently providing shelter and ongoing support to those affected by the war in Ukraine through our Karma Refuge initiative. During the global Covid pandemic, Karma Group was a leader in vaccinating staff, their families and communities and ensuring that no one was left destitute.
During that unprecedented hiatus, Karma Group managed to open no fewer than 11 new properties, with many more in the works. We continue to expand our immersive destination offerings for our Members with our ongoing series of Karma Curated experiences – each unique, showcasing elite sporting events, stunning properties, historic cities, vineyards & wineries, cosmopolitan cuisine and much much more.
