Karma Martam Retreat, Gangtok, India: A Sikkim Staycation to Remember
By Gupta, Siddhant & Gupta, Nikita, Karma Group Members Since 2023
Our recent stay at Karma Martam Retreat in East Sikkim exceeded all expectations when our planned four-night visit transformed into a blissful seven-night staycation. The spacious rooms with their picture-perfect views, instantly set the tone for the most rejuvenating experience.
The hotel staff, ever-smiling and attentive, ensured we felt welcome from the moment we arrived. Service was consistently prompt, and the hospitality truly stood out. We opted for a half-board package, which included both breakfast and dinner and each meal was a delightful culinary journey. The menus changed daily with fantastic local specialties that were a treat for the senses. We were surprised by a complimentary lunch from the gracious General Manager, which was a special touch to add to the delightfully warm experience.
For those keen on exploring the beauty of Sikkim, the retreat arranges transportation at very reasonable rates, covering the North, South, and West regions.
Overall, Karma Martam Retreat offers a peaceful, pampering escape amidst the mountains and is highly recommended for those looking to unwind in the most serene surroundings.
A Karma Song Hoai Experience, Hoi An, Vietnam
By Leeanne & Steve Robb of Madora Bay, Karma Group Members since 2012
July 2024: Our two-week stay at Karma Song Hoai in Hoi An proved to be a delightful retreat. Whether you’re seeking relaxation, as we did, or an action-packed holiday, this destination is ideal. The staff was exceptional, and our spacious room with a balcony overlooking the gardens and river made the experience even more special.
(Inside tip: all rooms come with fantastic views.)
The resort offers several social activities, including:
- Sunday ‘Meet & Greet’ sessions to connect with fellow Karma Group Members,
- Sangria Tuesdays,
- Sparkling Wine Fridays, and
- Lantern making on Fridays
A daily shuttle to the Old Town is a must – the vibrant Lantern City and its excellent restaurants were fantastic! Our dining highlights included The Paddy Field (7-minute walk), Le Petit Bistro (20-minute walk), and The Deckhouse at An Bang Beach (10-minute taxi). For a great coffee, head to LARVA, just at the end of Karma Lane.
Guest relations were superb, and we felt wonderfully cared for throughout our stay and we must say that breakfast at Karma Song Hoai is among the best we’ve had at Karma Group Resorts.
We also indulged in the “Karma Romantic Spa & Dinner” package, a lantern-making class, and a serene boat cruise on the Hoi An River, which added memorable touches to our stay, and made all the more enjoyable with new friends we met along the way.
In summary, Karma Song Hoai is a perfect spot for relaxation or adventure in the heart of Hoi An.
Scilly Isles Escape: A Week at Karma St. Martin’s, Isles of Scilly
By Mr & Mrs. Brahim, Karma Group Members since 2014
We spent a fantastic week at Karma St. Martin’s with friends who were just as captivated by the Scilly Isles and the Karma St. Martin’s resort as we were. The service was impeccable – the staff were exceptionally friendly and attentive. Dining was a highlight because Karma St. Martin’s is home to the Isles of Scilly’s premier dining destination, the AA acclaimed two-Rosette award-winning, Sir Cloudesly Shovell where we spent five of our evenings spent enjoying delicious meals.
We treated ourselves to relaxing spa sessions, took part in fun excursions, and enjoyed a daily long walk, always ending with a drink at the Seven Stones Inn – the perfect warm-up for the evening’s feast and drinks.
A big thank you to Scott and his wonderful team. We’re already planning our fourth visit!
A Blissful Retreat at Karma Royal Candidasa, Bali
By Kalwatkar, Swapnil Shankarrao & Kalwatkar, Veena Swapnil, Karma Group Members Since 2018
My recent stay at Karma Royal Candidasa was unforgettable. Nestled along Bali’s stunning coastline, the resort is a serene oasis that blends natural beauty with luxury.
The view from my room was breathtaking and with the ocean stretching out before me, it was an ideal way to start each day. The rooms are elegant and comfortable, offering a perfect retreat after exploring the island.
Service was exceptional. The staff’s warm welcome and attentive care made me feel truly valued. Their local knowledge and activity recommendations added to the experience.
Dining at Karma Royal Candidasa was a highlight, with a range of fresh, flavourful Balinese and international dishes. Enjoying dinner by the ocean under the stars was simply magical.
The resort’s facilities impressed as well. The infinity pool overlooking the sea was perfect for relaxation, and the spa treatments were rejuvenating. I also appreciated the resort’s commitment to sustainability.
Overall, Karma Royal Candidasa exceeded all expectations. I highly recommend it for a peaceful, luxurious escape in Bali and look forward to returning.
A Joyful Stay at Karma Bavaria, Schliersee
By Bhosle, Ullhas Gajanan, Karma Group Member Since 2007
As always, I left a Karma Group property with a big smile, this time after a wonderful stay at Karma Bavaria, located in the idyllic town of Schliersee, just an hour from Munich. From the moment we were picked up at the airport, everything was picture-perfect. The staff’s hospitality, courtesy, and friendly service were exceptional. Another highlight was the delicious daily breakfasts which set the tone for each day.
The resort itself was incredibly comfortable, with a swimming pool, jacuzzi, and steam room – which I made use of daily. We stayed for five nights, including the two-day Karma Experience. This included local sightseeing, a brewery visit, a stop at a century-old cabin serving local dishes, and even a foraging walk through the forest to learn about herbs used in cooking. The experience culminated in a fantastic five-course dinner prepared by talented chefs Lucia and Augustus, where we also learned a bit about German cuisine.
We were fortunate to have Valerios, the head of Karma Group’s European operations, and Nihaan on hand, adding personal touches that made our stay even more special.
Karma Group has consistently been a joy to visit. In January 2023, I spent a week at Karma Hoi An, Vietnam, and the warmth of the staff brought tears to my eyes. As a solo traveler, their care and kindness made my stay unforgettable. I’ve also enjoyed stays at Karma Martam in Sikkim and Karma Kerala, both beautiful in their own ways, and of course, regular visits to Goa’s Karma Haathi Mahal – a favorite we return to every two years.
I can’t wait to visit many more Karma Group properties in the future!
