Karma Kandara’s Iconic Cliffside Carriage Elevated

Karma Group’s legendary hill tram at Karma Kandara is back in action, reconnecting our flagship cliff top luxury resort with its celebrated beach club in dramatic fashion. The newly refurbished tram, which descends 85 meters down spectacular limestone cliffs to access the pristine white sands of Karma Beach Bali, was inaugurated this past Saturday in a ribbon-cutting ceremony led by Karma Group Founder & Chairman John Spence.

The hill tram’s return marks a new chapter for one of Bali’s most distinctive resort experiences featuring an exclusive artistic design created by talented artist-in-residence, Reif Myers, whose vibrant contemporary works have graced galleries across Southeast Asia, Australia and Europe. Gliding silently down the cliff face, passengers are treated to breathtaking views of the Indian Ocean, the Bukit peninsula’s dramatic coastline and the magical Karma Beach Bali enclave below, where the acclaimed Le Club 22, Warung Pantai and Phoenix beach bar await with their signature blend of laid-back luxury, Pan-Asian & Mediterranean inspired cuisines, cocktails, watersports, live music and DJs.

To celebrate the reopening, guests enjoyed chilled rosé and tequila at Phoenix Bar, followed by a beachside feast at Warung Pantai curated by Group Exec Chef Joseph Antonishek and his talented team. The event drew local press and community leaders, highlighting the hill tram’s significance as both a feat of engineering and a symbol of Karma Kandara’s unique appeal.

For resort guests, the modernised hill tram offers seamless access between the world-class amenities along the clifftop – think destination restaurant di Mare, Temple Lounge, Karma Spa, infinity pool and of course the incredible villa residences – and the intimate beach club below – a journey that perfectly encapsulates Karma Kandara’s marriage of luxury, James Bond style sophistication and natural beauty in one of Bali’s most breathtaking settings.
