Inside Guide to Bali

It’s now even easier for our India Members to visit the fabled Island of the Gods, with direct flights from Bangalore! All you need to do now is plan your trip. If you find yourself torn between the myriad of options Bali presents, fret not! We’re here to guide you…

There is no island on the planet quite like Bali. Westernmost of the Lesser Sunda Islands, it is easy to miss, sandwiched between the much larger islands of Java to the west and Lombok to the east. And yet Bali’s international reputation belies its diminutive size – for the island’s allure is utterly unique. First, there is its culture – a hybrid of Hinduism, Buddhism, animism, and ancestor worship exhibiting unique forms of ritual theatre, art and music. Filled with colour, ceremony and magic, there is nothing quite like it anywhere in the world.

Then there are its diverse landscapes, from black and white sand beaches lapped by the waters of the Indian Ocean – or massive ocean rollers beloved of surfers to lush rice terraces, spectacular volcanoes and waterfalls,  nature’s splendour is on display at every turn. Its coastal waters are home to coral reefs teeming with marine species, while its global popularity gives it a cosmopolitan atmosphere with a myriad of world-class culinary offerings – not to mention a vibrant nightlife.

Getting There

Ngurah Rai International Airport, also known as Denpasar International Airport, is the main gateway to Bali. It is well-connected to major cities across the globe, with direct flights available from many international destinations.
