Meet Diego from Karma La Herriza

In our latest Staff Spotlight, we’re delighted to introduce you to Diego Rodríguez Martín (26) who currently lives in Gaucín, the beautiful Andalusian town in Spain where he was born. After experiencing many parts of his beautiful country where he worked in construction, gardening and plumbing, today Diego is an important part of Karma Group at Karma La Herriza. A family man, Diego’s first loves are his incredible wife and beautiful two-year-old daughter, India, and from the below, you’ll easily see why he chooses Gaucín to be home.

Can you tell us a little bit about what you do at Karma La Herriza?

I’m responsible for maintaining the pools, common areas, and gardens, as well as solving any problems that arise for both customers and colleagues. I also stay on-site to monitor the complex when we’re out of season.

What do you love the most about your job?

What I love most is satisfying customers by solving their problems, but I also enjoy working outdoors and taking in the beauty of our location and the nature that surrounds us.

Do you have any hobbies or interests outside of work you want to mention?

I love to relax by walking through the countryside with my family and teaching my daughter about the local flora and fauna. I also really enjoy travelling and experiencing different types of cuisine.

Do you have any personal heroes? People who inspire you?

For me, my father has always been a role model, so he’s my hero because I do the same work as he does, and he’s the one who taught me everything I know today. Besides him, there are several people in my life who inspire me and help me keep moving forward, like my wife, my daughter, my family in general, and my great colleague Jairo, who makes all problems easier to solve.

As a Gaucín local, what travel tips do you have for visitors to your special part of the world?

In general, I think every corner of Gaucín is special, so I believe the town as a whole and its surroundings are magnificent. And we can’t forget its residents, who give it even more character. I often go to the Castillo del Águila to relax and enjoy the views and tranquillity, and I also love visiting the magnificent Fuente de los Seis Caños, built in 1628 in the Andalusian Baroque style.

My Surreal Maldives Experience from Karma Fushi

Last month, I had the most amazing trip to the Maldives, and it all started with a flight from Bangalore to Malé International Airport. As soon as I landed, it was easy to sense that I was in for a special experience. Our team greeted us at the airport and picked us up in a traditional Maldivian boat called a dhoni. The turquoise water was so clear, and the gentle breeze made the ride incredibly relaxing. It felt like the perfect introduction to island life.
