In this latest edition of Staff Spotlight we visit the picturesque shores of Goa, where Manoj Salunke is part of Karma Group’s Indian Sales team!
Hi Manoj, tell us a little about your working day as a Sales Consultant for Karma Group India…
On an average day at work, I start by getting in touch with onsite Members who’ve checked in and have been allocated to me. This way, I can respond to any queries or concerns they may have and get things organised for them at the start of their holiday. I then do a quick check on the presentations I have lined up for the day. This has my top priority.
What’s your favourite hidden gem in South Goa that you recommend to our Members?
I’d highly recommend checking out Tortoise Rock in South Goa. It’s a unique natural rock formation in the sea, and looks like a turtle. You can’t actually touch it, which I think is great! It’s intended to stay pristine. But it makes for a great view, especially from the nearby Honeymoon Beach and Butterfly Beach. It’s one of those lesser known spots that’s worth seeing.
We know you love helping Members plan their dream vacations, but what’s the ultimate travel destination you’d like to visit someday?
Spending time in Australia would be a dream vacation for me. I’ve heard so much about its unique landscapes and I’d love to explore some of them. The beaches are stunning, with clear waters and white sands. With such a variety of plants and wildlife, I think it’s a fantastic place for those who love nature.
What’s the best thing about working with our Goa team?
Working with the Goa Team is truly a pleasure. Their everyday enthusiasm is contagious, making work so much fun. The mood here is always upbeat and positive and it helps on days when things are tough. I appreciate the camaraderie and support, and I really enjoy working here.
If you had to choose between a relaxing beach getaway or a cultural city adventure, which would you pick, and why?
The Goan in me would pick a relaxing beach getaway over a city adventure, any day. It’s amazing how a day at the beach can revitalise your soul. Walking along the shore is time well spent, and to me, the beach is more than just a place – it’s a feeling, the ultimate cure for a bad day.
Goa is known for its vibrant culture and festivals. What’s your most-loved Goan festival, and how would you recommend Members experience it?
It may sound clichéd, but according to me, Christmas is the best time to be in Goa. Everything gets so festive – the streets are lit up, the markets are decorated with tinsel and buntings, and decorated Christmas trees sparkle! A drive through Goa puts you in a great mood with homes and churches beautifully decked out.
For Members truly looking to get into the Christmas spirit, I recommend visiting a local market to soak in the festive atmosphere and pick up a few local Christmas goodies.
What do you like to do in your free time when you’re not busy helping the sales team?
I love playing cricket. It’s not just a fun outdoor sport but a great way to stay fit and active. It promotes teamwork and cooperation, which are key values for me, both on and off the field. Holidays and my days off from work are perfect for getting together with friends for a good match.
Goa is famous for its diverse and delicious cuisine – What’s your top Goan dish recommendation for Members looking to savour the local flavours?
For anyone looking to try some local Goan flavours, I’d definitely recommend the Goan Fish / Prawn Curry. This delicious dish is the perfect combination of the sweetness of coconut and the heat of red chillies. It soaks into succulent fresh fish or prawns and is usually served with fluffy rice. It’s a staple in most Goan homes and also popular in Goan restaurants.
