Shining Karma Stars : Meet Kumudaa

In this week’s Karma Community Staff Spotlight, we meet the lovely Kumudaa Naik!

Kumudaa is a Sales Representative at our Bali Sales Deck – Let’s say hello…

How long have you been working for Karma Group and what is your role?

It’s been about a year since I joined Karma Group as a holiday sales representative. My role is to engage with tourists from around the world and to show them how they could travel with Karma Club.

Where are you from?

I’m from the southern part of India, Bangalore, a city known for its pleasant weather throughout the year, also known as the “Silicon Valley of India”.

PS: You cannot miss the authentic South Indian delicacies, chaats and street food the city has to offer.

What do you like most about working for Karma Group?

The fact that I get to connect everyday with people from around the world.

I’ve always enjoyed that. Moreover, the team is extremely dynamic in terms of cultural diversity and the energy each one brings is extraordinary! There’s never a dull moment on the deck!

Share a funny or interesting story from one of your travel adventures…

Year 2016: I was in Thailand with a dear friend, and we hopped onto the wrong boat that landed us on the wrong island. Something that started off with fear and doubt turned out to be the most memorable time of our lives.

We met some interesting people who were lost as well and made new friends while finding our way back together to Krabi. This sure has been one of my travel adventures to remember.

(One of them went missing again in Vietnam, I’ll save that story for another time)

What are your hobbies and interests?

Ah, where do I begin.. outdoor runs, yoga, scuba diving, lame jokes and much more. I’ve explored many interests over time, as I believe in giving a fair shot at everything that interests me, regardless of what the end result could be.

However, I must admit that travelling has been my all time favourite thing to do.. I’ve always wondered what it would be like to travel back in time or transport oneself to another space, and that’s my motivation behind travelling. I felt that when I was in Rome in 2013.

How did you become interested in working in the luxury travel industry?

Having worked in client-facing roles for the major part of my career, I can tell you that the most shared or rather interesting stories are from one’s travel experiences and I personally love to listen to such stories, endlessly. The need to understand one’s travel needs and to cater to them is what drives me the most in the industry.

If you could have a celebrity or fictional character as your travel companion, who would it be and why?

My squad : my group of friends I usually travel with, are no less than a celebrity, they are the best travel companions one could have and I’d love to continue to travel with them, anytime.

Share a fun fact or hidden talent that your colleagues and our Members might not know about you…

I can moonwalk 😎

If you could offer one piece of advice to our Members for making the most of their travel experiences, what would it be?

Make time for travel as much as you can and if you’re not doing that, then just remember the quote by Hans Christian Andersen, to travel is to live.

It’s one life, after all. ✨
