Poetry Day Winners

Last week we asked all of our lovely Members to send us through their poem entries to the World Poetry Day competition!

Well, where to start? Our judging team laughed, we cried, we gasped, and everything in between – We can’t thank you enough for your incredible verses; we have some true poets in our midst…..

So without further ado, here are our two lucky winners and their creations, who will soon be enjoying a meal for two, inclusive of a bottle of wine and non-alcoholic drinks during their next Karma Group getaway:

“In this world so vast and wide
We must strive to heal and abide
For the pain that we see around
Is but a call to heal and surround

The earth that we call our own
Is a treasure that must be shown
To future generations yet to come
For they must know what we have done

The trees that once stood tall and proud
Are now lost, their voices not loud
The oceans that were once serene
Are now polluted and not so clean

But hope still lies within our grasp
For we can still repair and clasp
The power to make a change
To heal the world and rearrange

Let’s plant new trees and help them grow
And clear the trash that lays below
Let’s nurture the soil and care for the land
For it’s the earth that gives a helping hand

We must spread love and lend a hand
To those in need, and understand
That healing starts with us, my friend
And it’s a journey that must never end

So let’s heal the world, bit by bit
And make it a better place to live in
For the world needs love, and so do we
Let’s heal the world, and set it free.”

Dr Shah & Dr Karia (and their son, Shaurya Shah, Grade 6) – Karma Group Members Since 2005

I Have Written A Poem On Ghosts,
A Poem That Says That They Don’t Have Souls,
They Always Appear At Night,
They Hate Light,
On Seeing Them I Say “What A Wonderful Sight”.

According To My Imagination,
They Always Wear A White Cloth,
When They Are Around
We Feel The Presence Of A Moth.

They All Have A Scary Grin,
We Can’t Poke Them With A Pin,
I Believe That They Can’t Bite,
But I Try My Best To Fight.

They Stay In A Place Which Is Haunted,
Those Who Play Their Pranks,
They Are The People Most Wanted,
They Can Make Their Minds Blank.

Whenever I Feel Lost
I Think About Them Eating Toast
I Write Them A Threatening Post
I Am Not Scred Of  Ghost.
