Christmas Quiz : $12,000 Prizes Galore!

For those of you who are familiar with all Christmas jingles and anthems, you will sing through this week’s quiz – literally. Karma Group is giving away $12,000 worth of prizes –  test your knowledge about two turtle doves and five go-old rings!

The names of the 8 lucky winners will be announced on 04 January across all Karma Group and Karma Odyssey social media channels.

    1. The festive gift giving begins with a partridge in a pear tree. But in earlier versions of the song the bird presided in a different place… but where?

    2. Two turtle doves... The turtle dove is not some horrible hybrid experiment gone wrong, but a type of pigeon. But what does the ""turtle"" part refer to?

    3. The Faroe Islands have their own 12 Days of Christmas song involving cheese, ponies and feathers. But what is given on the third day (rather than the usual French Hens)?

    4. The four calling birds were originally four colly, collie or colley birds. But what does ""colly"" mean?

    5. Five go-old rings... One theory states that all the early days in the song refer to birds (including the fifth one) and that the five gold rings actually means the ringed markings on the neck of… which feathered friend?

    6. Six geese a laying... There’s a similar Scottish cumulative song called The Yule Days that doesn’t feature six geese, but just the one. But what is distinctive about it?

    7. Seven swans a-swimming... A group of seven swans can be called many things as there are a number of collective nouns for the birds - but which of these is NOT a name for a gathering of swans?

    8. Eight maids a-milking... Milkmaids, undoubtedly more than eight, were vital in the discovery and eradication of a devastating disease - but which one?

    9. Nine ladies dancing... The 1933 film Dancing Lady featured more than nine ladies dancing, but did also feature the screen debut of a movie icon… but which one?

    10. Ten lords a-leaping... One theory (since discredited) suggests that the song was used to help Christians learn the tenets of their faith (in secret, due to persecution). In this version of events, what did the ten Leaping Lords represent?

    11. Eleven pipers piping... There are many variants of the 11 pipers, including bulls a-beating and, unpleasantly, badgers baiting. One version of the song has 11 ""lads a-louping"". But what is louping?

    12. Twelve drummers drumming... In the song `The Twelve Days Of Christmas`, what did my true love give to me on the 12th day?
