Keeping Our Cretan Paradise Pristine

Karma Group destinations are more than just beautiful backdrops – we always strive to integrate with the local community, culture and environment. We want all of our resorts to feel like home, wherever we find ourselves. Environmental stewardship is a big part of this effort and recently at Karma Minoan, our beautiful resort in the Bay of Mirabello, Crete, five members of our resort staff teamed up with five local volunteers to clean the nearby beach. It was particularly inspiring to see the involvement of young local volunteers, demonstrating a growing environmental consciousness among the area’s youth.

Local participants included Giorgos Plexousakis, Lefteris Blazogianakis, Katerina Sakelariou, Tasos Sakelariou, Alexandros Savidis, and Olga Koutsoni. Their dedication to the cause was matched by Karma Minoan staff members Maria Garbidaki from A&G, Anthi Drakonaki, the Housekeeping Manager, George Giannakakis from F&B, and Anna Tsatsa from the Front Office.

In recognition of their efforts, Karma Minoan has extended an invitation to the local volunteers to enjoy complimentary pool access and refreshments at the resort, with the date to be confirmed.

Karma Minoan GM Valerios Koutsonis emphasised the importance of acknowledging all volunteers by name, highlighting the Resort’s appreciation for their community involvement and environmental consciousness.

This collaborative effort between Karma Minoan and the local community not only resulted in a pristine beach but also fostered stronger ties between the resort and its neighbours. It serves as a great example of how hospitality businesses can play a vital role in environmental conservation and community engagement.

  1. What a fantastic thing to do . Clean beaches are so important to everyone but no one wants to clean them. So good stars to everyone

  2. Well done to all those helping to combat the effects of the world’s litter bugs. Only wish there were more like thinking companies and people.
