Arya Rows for R.O.L.E Again

Karma Kandara athlete and lifeguard extraordinaire I Kadek Arya Wiarta is continuing to make waves and act as a R.O.L.E model (apologies!) as he took part in this year’s Row for R.O.L.E sea canoe race on 27 April. Once again, Arya excelled, landing the runner up spot in the single male category of the sea canoe competition in this year’s gruelling 13km race between Sanur and Nusa Dua in South Bali. His second place time was 1 hour, 23 minutes, and 35 seconds, a little over a minute behind the winner.

His efforts and those of all 90 participants in the race helped raise more than US$62,000  for the Bali WISE Educational Programme, an initiative that empowers marginalised young Indonesian women with hospitality and digital marketing skills that can help them to break free from poverty. The substantial funds raised will help educate 100 women in future programmes.

Congratulations to Arya and to all of the race participants and a huge thanks to all those who sponsored the racers and donated money to this important cause.
