When you’re looking for an alternative to caffeine to get you into gear then consider a superfood smoothie. Karma Kandara’s Food & Beverage Director is Rai Artawan whose background is in luxury hotels and knows a thing or two about the smoothie scene. Says Pak Rai: ‘These superfood smoothies are my morning boosters for my daily 10k run before work – they help me function at my absolute best.’ Rai Artawan shares these three guest favourites…
Karma Berry Smoothie
Ingredients
- 5 to 6 Strawberries
- 1/2 Banana
- 1 Tablespoon – Flax seeds
- 1 teaspoon – Ginger juice
- 1/2 Tablespoon – Honey
- 1 teaspoon – Goji berries
- 1 teaspoon – Maca powder
- 200 ml coconut water
Method
Blend all ingredients with ice crushed until smooth, garnish with strawberry and vanilla stick. Serve immediately.
Tropical Green Immunity
Ingredients
- 1/4 Cup – Green apple, peeled and chopped
- 1/4 Cup – Papaya (peeled, seeded and chopped)
- 1/2 Cup – Pineapple (peeled, cored and chopped)
- 1 large or 2 small bananas (frozen)
- 1 large handfuls of spinach or baby English spinach
- 1 sprig of mint
- Water – Enough to process, about 1 cup
Method
Blend all ingredients with ice crushed until smooth, garnish with cucumber and mint leaf. Serve immediately.
Ginger lifter Smoothie
Ingredients
- 5 pcs fresh pineapple
- 8 pcs mint leaf
- 1 small piece of fresh ginger
- 30 ml plain yoghurt
- 60 ml pineapple juice
Methods
Blend all ingredients with ice crushed until smooth, garnish with sliced pineapple and pineapple leaf. Serve immediately.
