Something unexpected happened at Karma Kandara. What started as a table tennis tournament turned into one of the more compelling sporting afternoons the Karmaverse has produced – fast, fiercely contested, and unpredictable until the final rally. Pankaj Kathuria emerged as champion with the cool nerve of someone who had been here before, beating Dr. John Stewart in a final that left spectators breathless. Rachel Hartvigsen, whose measured, placement-first game made her one of the tournament’s most watchable players, took third. Then the paddles were put down, the pizza picked up, and di Mare’s cliff-top terrace did the rest.
Now the circus moves to Crete. The European Championship takes place at Karma Minoan from 30 October to 01 November, accompanied by a mountain dinner in a traditional stone house, a morning in Agios Nikolaos and a raki tasting woven around the serious business of knockout rounds. A handful of places remain. The winner earns a flight and a spot in the Global Final.
