We’re thrilled to announce the acquisition of an authentic French bistro located in the centre of Caux et Sauzens on the outskirts of historic Carcassonne. Le Platane is set to become a Karma culinary gem, celebrating the rich flavours of the Languedoc region. The new eatery will showcase provincial French country cooking at its best, offering a menu brimming with local favourites and beloved classics.
The restaurant’s ambience will be elegantly rustic, featuring traditional French quality outdoor furniture to maximise the use of its inviting terrace. Diners can expect a warm, authentic atmosphere that perfectly complements the hearty cuisine.
The menu will spotlight regional specialties, including of course the iconic cassoulet, as well as magret and confit de canard, and Toulouse sausage. Steak enthusiasts will delight in various cuts, while daily specials will allow for culinary innovation. The wine list will primarily feature Languedoc selections, emphasising carefully curated local vintages.
John Spence, Karma Group’s Chairman, envisions a grand opening to coincide with the vendange (grape harvest), featuring theatrical grape-stomping events and complimentary BBQ for the entire village.
With its commitment to simple, great value authentic French cuisine, Karma Group’s newest venture promises to be a new standout – and a reflection of our continuing foray into off-site dining establishments as an added benefit to Members.

My wife are planning to stay in Carassonne in April 2025. La Plantane Bistro looks fabulous and it will definitely be part of our stay at Carcassonne. We are just getting our itinerary set to fit in with La Herriza in April 2025 as well.
