Karma Royal Jimbaran carried out its annual charity visit to the Kupu-Kupu Foundation in Ubud on 14 August 2026, part of the resort’s Indonesian Independence Day celebrations.
The foundation was founded by Ibu Begoña Lopez, known locally as Ibu Maria (Ibu, an Indonesian honorific for a respected woman), a Spanish activist who has spent her life supporting children and adults living with physical and intellectual disabilities through healthcare, physiotherapy, wheelchairs and school transport across Bali’s poorer Gianyar and Bangli regions, since 2002.

Staff and children welcomed the team warmly, filling the afternoon with dancing, games and a look at the handicrafts the children make themselves. Karma staff and Members had collected linen towels and groceries, rice, cooking oil and instant noodles among them, handed over before everyone sat down to lunch together.

It’s an annual fixture Karma Royal Jimbaran intends to keep building on, with continued support from Karma Group and Ibu Marlinde, the team leader behind the initiative each year.
