Karma Borgo di Colleoli just hosted a Karma Supper Club unlike any other. Taking its cue from the Samuel Beckett classic Waiting for Godot, the event paired a six-course menu with select regional wines as diners were treated to a private performance that closed out an evening unlike anything else in the series so far.
Staged at the Roman Theatre in Volterra as part of the International Roman Theatre Festival, this marked the first Italian staging of Godot in English in over forty years, since Beckett directed it himself in 1984. Reviewing the performance for Rome’s Quartaparete, critic Elena Salvati praised the striking pairing of old and new: the Roman Theatre’s ancient stagecraft holding its own against Beckett’s stark modernism, two seemingly opposed worlds sharing the same space with unexpected ease.
