The Summer Season in India is notable for many things – not least among them are the myriad traditional festivals that take place across the country. If you want to get a concentrated dose of culture, art, performance, cuisine and more, there’s nothing quite like a festival. Here’s our pick of the upcoming happenings relatively close to our Karma Resorts:


Kollam Pooram (Kerala)

Celebrated on 29 April, Kollam Pooram dazzles with majestic elephant processions and traditional music, honouring the deity at Kollam’s temples. It’s a grand display of Kerala’s rich cultural heritage and devotion.

Mount Abu Summer Festival (Rajasthan)

Embracing the arrival of summer, this festival showcases the breadth of Rajasthan’s colourful cultural vibrancy. From 12-13 May, highlights include folk performances, boat races on Nakki Lake, and spectacular fireworks illuminating the night sky.

Shimla Summer Festival (Himachal Pradesh)

Held from 01-05 June,  the Shimla Summer Festival celebrates the onset of Summer amidst the serene hills of Himachal Pradesh. Festivities include cultural events, handicraft fairs, and captivating folk dances.

Saga Dawa (Sikkim)

Occurring in May/June (the fourth month in the Buddhist calendar) Saga Dawa commemorates Lord Buddha’s birth, enlightenment, and parinirvana (passing). It involves serene rituals, prayers, and circumambulation of sacred structures, fostering spiritual renewal.

International Flowers Festival (Sikkim)
