Europe is reopening – just in time for the summer! There’s an undeniable sense of optimism in the air as the pandemic cloud is slowly lifting. Restaurants, theatres and entertainment venues are opening as are many of the Karma Group’s European resorts. Soon we can get back to what we love best about European summers –island hopping holidays, beach days, long languid lunches with friends, Aperitivo hour and Italian gelatos! However, until you are able to travel to one of our destination resorts, we’ve rounded up a few European-infused events you can enjoy from home…
Make your own gelato
There’s nothing like cooling off from a hot summer day with an Italian gelato! Why not learn to make your own Italian ice-cream. Get creative – you can generally infuse your gelato with an array of delicious flavours and textures such as hazelnut, coffee, pistachio, vanilla – and even chunks of chocolate.
Serve your friends an Aperol Spritz!
When you can’t get to Italy, why not learn to craft your own Aperol Spritz Italian Aperitivo drink! This glowing orange coloured crisp effervescent cocktail is infused with Italian herbs and is easy to make. Serve with snacks as the sun goes down!
Create an outdoor cinema in your garden
Karma Group resorts are renowned for their outdoor cinema entertainment (the set up at Karma Beach Bali is amazing!). The good news is it’s fairly easy to create an outdoor cinema in your own backyard. All you need is a good quality projector and some tech stuff! Get creative with your set up – pretty rugs and cushions, decorative fairy lights, plus citronella candles to keep the mozzies at bay.
P.S. This is the ideal time to serve guests your homemade gelato and Aperol Spritz!
Indoor theatre and plays
Craving some classical theatre? Tune into the Shakespeare Globe’s digital platform that features more than 130 professionally filmed plays from the Globe’s vault. Just some of these include ‘Hamlet’ and’ A Midsummer Night’s Dream’. For just a few pounds, this is a great night-in!
Enjoy more unforgettable British theatre with ‘National Theatre at Home’. Just some of the productions include ‘A Comedy of Errors’, ‘All My Sons’, ‘Cat on a Hot Tin Roof’ and ‘Amadeus’ to name a few. The best part is the National Theatre regularly upload new plays so there’s always fresh performances to watch. You can pay for these individually, monthly or annually.
