Anglers’ Delight: Maldives Fishing Adventure

Karma COO Vic Faulkner first fished as a child in his native England – and he was immediately hooked (forgive the pun!) So we’re delighted to share the news that Vic, a Karma stalwart for the last 28 years, will be hosting an exclusive fishing adventure in the Maldives from 11 – 14 November, marking the official launch of our fabulous new ocean cruiser Karma Fushi.

Exclusive to Members, this Director’s Curated Experience offers keen anglers – and their long-suffering partners – the opportunity to explore the fabled Maldives archipelago with its tropical atolls, coral reefs and warm ocean currents teeming with fish. Over four days, we’ll have the opportunity to fish a wide variety of different species, from demersals (seabed and reef dwellers) such as job fish and grouper to ocean-going pelagics including wahoo and tuna for the sports fishing enthusiasts. Giant Trevally are to be found near the reefs and the chances of an elusive bill fish are as high as anywhere in the world!

Participants of all standards are welcome and fishing lessons for beginners will be available from our specialist guides, with Vic also on hand to impart advice from the lifetime of experience he has amassed fishing around the world.  The more experienced among you can look forward to popping, jigging, casting and bottom fishing to your hearts’ content as we encounter a variety of locations and conditions.  If you have your own personal tackle, we suggest that you bring it with you, although there will be some tackle on board and daily hire will be possible.

Of course there is no shortage of fun to be had for non-fishers too, from swimming, snorkelling and watersports to island hopping or simply relaxing poolside or in the on board Jacuzzi.

Please complete the attached questionnaire to indicate your preferred method of fishing and target prey. Depending on demand, there may also be the possibility to take a Big Game boat out for a day to chase the big guns in deep water (additional fee payable).

Karma practices catch and release on all its fishing trips, although it will be permissible to keep sufficient non-threatened species for dinner.  Our on-board chef will be a specialist in seafood and Vic himself is famous for his homemade fish and chips.

Look forward to seeing you in November and ‘tight lines’!
