Another Rugby Legends gala dinner and fundraiser is now in the books – and Karma Group was a sponsor as the hallmark charity event celebrated its 29th year. What’s more, nine lucky Members – two of whom even flew in from Tasmania especially for the event – were fortunate enough to join us as personal guests of Karma Ambassador and England rugby legend Phil Greening.
The entertainment portion of the evening was headlined by the amazing Sophie Ellis Bextor – enjoying the spotlight once again thanks to her song Murder On the Dancefloor enjoying a major revival after featuring in the film Saltburn. And Sophie was on top form as she belted out her many hits.
The event paid homage to rugby icons Sarah Hunter CBE and the late Paul “The Judge” Rendall, celebrating their remarkable contributions to the sport, amidst the musical performances and accolades.
Martin Bayfield was an affable and masterful host, infusing the night with his signature charm and wit. The festivities extended to a lively after-party at Karma Sanctum in Soho, where guests revelled in the music and camaraderie until the early hours.
Besides hosting the after party, Karma Group also contributed to the live auction, donating a 7-night stay at Karma Kandara, which fetched an impressive £6,500 for charity. The event exemplified Karma Group’s commitment to supporting noble causes while providing unparalleled experiences for its Members.
Thanks to Karma Group Members the Mapplethorpes – two among the nine lucky attendees – who were kind enough to write to share their experience with us. As the curtains draw on yet another legendary evening, Karma Group continues to pave the way for unforgettable experiences and philanthropic endeavours, promising more exciting events on the horizon.
Feedback from Mr and Mrs Maplethorpe – Karma Group Members since 2023
“Firstly, I want to thank the Karma Group for the experience of the Rugby Legends Dinner.
The experience began when we arrived at the venue. That in itself was amazing!
We were provided with a champagne reception and met up with Ed King and two others. We arrived at the table to find the other winners and a surprise gift from Elemis.
The food was delicious and Beef cheeks is one of my favourite meals, so very happy. There was also plenty of wine!!
I particularly enjoyed Sophie Ellis-Bexter. Such a fabulous performer and completed the night.
Both Mark and I very much enjoyed the experience so thank you!
Once again, thank you for choosing Mark and myself as winners. It was such a wonderful experience.”
