We’re sharing some very exciting news in this week’s Members’ Corner; first up the reopening of Karma Jimbaran in Bali and a cosmic lunar phenomenon just days away! Plus, you’ll get the opportunity to catch up with Alisha Gonsalves in our Goa edition of Staff Spotlight.
Universal magic in the Karma-verse
Are you ready to witness Thursday’s hybrid solar eclipse? On 20 April 2023, the world will be treated to an extra special and super rare hybrid solar eclipse!
What is this type of eclipse? A ‘hybrid solar eclipse’ occurs when the Moon’s umbra (the darkest part of its shadow) touches the Earth’s surface at some points, while at others it only partially covers the Sun. This phenomenon is relatively unique, and when it happens it creates a breathtaking spectacle for skywatchers.
What will you see? The exact appearance of a hybrid solar eclipse depends on where it is viewed from, but in general, the event begins as a partial eclipse, with the Moon appearing to take a bite out of the Sun’s disk. As the Moon continues to move across the Sun, the sky grows darker, and the temperature drops.
In the path of totality, the Moon blocks out the Sun entirely, revealing the Sun’s corona (the outermost layer of its atmosphere) – The few precious minutes when the world is plunged into darkness in the middle of the day.
Where can you watch it? Sadly for our Members in the Western Hemisphere, there is a high probability that you won’t get to experience it; as the wonder is only set to be seen from South and East Asia, Australia, the Pacific and Indian Oceans, and Antarctica. For those watching, the magic may only be fully visible to the naked eye for around 1 minute – so keep them peeled!
Why will the eclipse feel extra special in Bali? Bali is known for its stunning beaches and breathtaking landscapes, BUT it is also believed to have a network of Ley Lines – mysterious alignments of energy that crisscross the planet!
These Ley Lines are said to be a conduit for spiritual and cosmic energy, connecting sacred sites and powerful vortexes of energy across the world. In Bali, these Ley Lines are suggested to intersect at key spiritual locations, such as the famous Tanah Lot temple, and the island is believed to have a high concentration of spiritual energy as a result.
Many locals and visitors to Bali explain that tapping into this energy can bring about deep healing, enlightenment, and a deeper connection to the natural world!
Whether you believe in the power of Ley Lines or not, the spiritual energy of Bali is undeniable and continues to draw people from all over the world to this enchanting island…
What are your thoughts? Will you be looking up on the 20th?
Timings: Scientists have predicted that the hybrid solar eclipse can be viewed in Indonesia from 11:23 pm to 11:58 pm (19 April) and in Western Australia from 10:29 pm to 10:35 pm (19 April) – Check online on the day for precise timings if you don’t want to miss out!
