Meet Ms Mala, a dynamic and versatile member of our team who effortlessly balances her roles at reception and in activity coordination. Using her remarkable adaptability, the way she handles last-minute changes with calmness and grace is an inspiration to both her colleagues and guests. We’re sure that her radiant smile, boundless enthusiasm, and creative spirit are just some of the things that transform even ordinary days into unforgettable experiences. Attentive, organised, and positive, Ms Mala is also a detail-oriented storyteller who brings every interaction to life.
What attracted you to the luxury hospitality industry?
I’ve always enjoyed making people feel welcome and creating good experiences for them. Working in luxury hospitality lets me do that every day while paying attention to the little details, giving personal care, and making sure guests feel special. I really like the challenge of going a step further and making someone’s stay memorable.
What were you doing before that helped to prepare you for your role at Karma Munnar?
Before joining Karma Munnar, I actually worked as a teacher. That experience really helped me develop patience, communication skills, and the ability to understand people’s needs. Even though it wasn’t in hospitality, it taught me how to connect with others, stay calm in different situations, and give my full attention. All of this has helped me provide better service to our guests.
Why do you love Kerala?
I love Kerala because I was born and raised here. It has beautiful landscapes, rich culture, and warm people. From the backwaters to the festivals, it always feels like home. I always love how in my God’s own country nature and tradition co-exist so beautifully.
How do you turn simple days into memorable experiences?
It’s all about attention to the little details, a friendly smile, personalised recommendations and unexpected surprises. Even small touches like arranging a special breakfast or guiding a guest to a hidden gem can turn an ordinary day into something they’ll remember fondly.
What inspires you in life to be the best person you can be?
What inspires me the most is the belief that even small acts of kindness and care can make a big difference. I always try to be the best version of myself because it feels good to bring a smile to someone’s face or make their day a little easier. Whether it’s at work or in daily life, I believe every little effort adds up and can create something meaningful for the people around me.
What does the word “adventure” mean to you?
To me, adventure means stepping into the unknown with excitement and energy. It’s about trying new things, exploring places, and enjoying every moment with passion and curiosity. A challenging adventure starts in figuring out what’s actually inside someone’s mind and heart and trying to understand where to start.
How do you spend your free time?
In my free time, I like to explore different departments like the restaurant and housekeeping because I’m new to this field and always eager to learn more about hospitality. I’m a creative person, so I enjoy trying out new things and learning skills that help me grow. I also love exploring hidden spots in my hometown and it’s a great way to discover beauty and stay inspired.
What do you love most about the Karma Group?

For me, a job well done at Karma Munnar Resort is when a guest leaves with a smile, feeling that their stay was seamless and exceptional. When I receive a genuine ‘thank you’ or see their satisfaction, I know I’ve done my best and created a memorable experience for them. Can you share your most memorable / favourite experience at Karma Munnar?
When I first joined this field of hospitality. I met a foreign couple, Carol and Michel, who were staying for seven days. At first, they didn’t attend any of my activities because of their age. I decided to visit them in the restaurant whenever I had free time, and we gradually got to know each other. They were very kind, and the next day they joined me for a nature walk, and later for a cooking class. Over those days, I built a personal connection with their family.
I even drew their portraits and created a small greeting for them. When it was time for them to leave, they genuinely appreciated my work, my dedication, and my attitude. At the end, they asked, ‘Can we hug you?’ and that moment truly touched my heart.
That first appreciation I received made me feel proud and motivated, and it’s a memory I will never forget. It reminded me why I love this industry – one that makes life’s special moments even more special.
