Staff Spotlight: Meet Vanessa Gleffe

In this week’s staff spotlight, we’re introducing Vanessa Gleffe, our talented F&B Breakfast Supervisor at Karma Bavaria!

Hi Vanessa! If you could have breakfast with any historical/famous figure, who would it be and why?

I would love to have breakfast with Sylvester Stallone. For me, he is a living example, that you can achieve everything if you don’t give up and fight for what you want.

As an F&B Breakfast Supervisor, you must have seen some interesting morning habits. Are there any memorable or quirky guest breakfast preferences you can share?

Yes, it’s right. You can really say: “different country, different manners”. While some guests smack their lips loudly and slurp because they like it, I see restraint and hesitation at other tables. Others use their cutlery, and others truly eat with their whole body – I find it interesting!

However people enjoy their food is perfectly fine, because we bring everyone from all over the world together and that’s exactly what I love.

Congratulations on marking 8 years with us at Karma Bavaria – what is your favourite aspect of working here?

Thank you! The reason I’ve been here for 8 years is because of the connection to my colleagues. I can proudly say that there is definitely only one team like us – They are the best!

What do you like to do in Schliersee and beyond in your free time?

In my free time I always spend time with my family. No matter whether it’s a nice walk by the lake or a trip by train to Munich, Augsburg or Ulm, for example – It never gets boring!

What’s a typical Bavaria dish you encourage our Members to savour?

I always recommend a nice white sausage for breakfast, because you have to “zuzeln” it. This means you remove the skin from the white sausage. Together with a nice pretzel and sweet mustard (and if you like… a delicious wheat beer with it) – Yummy!

Although Karma Bavaria is fabulous to visit all year round, which is your favourite season?

Personally, I love Autumn because most of the time we have a “golden October”. It’s not too cold or hot and looks fantastic when the leaves shine in the most vibrant colours. It simply invites you to take a short hike or sit outside with your loved ones and enjoy the fresh mountain air.

If you could switch jobs with someone else at the resort for a day, who would it be and Why?

Since I already know all the departments through my training here at Karma Bavaria, I don’t have a specific department in mind. But, if I could imagine someone working as me for the day, I would choose Detlef from the maintenance department.
