In this edition of Staff Spotlight we visit enchanting Hoi An, where Karma Song Hoai is nestled, to meet Duong Thi Cam Van – She is the lovely Receptionist Supervisor that we’re sure you’ve had the pleasure of meeting if you’ve visited recently!
Duong is proud to be born and raised in the ancient city of Hoi An – Let’s say hello…
How long have you been working for Karma Group and what’s been the best part so far?
I have been working for Karma Group 6 and a half years now, the best thing about working at Karma Song Hoai is that I get to talk to the members every day – and take them on the tours like Ba Na Hill, morning bike rides, fun BBQ parties, teaching lantern making classes!
What are the best things to do near Karma Song Hoai that you can recommend to our Members?
- The resort itself has so much to offer, with its outdoor bar and dining area, as well as a beautiful central pool to cool off.
- Cham Island scuba diving to see corals.
- Coconut water forest with basket boat round.
- Hoi An Memories and bamboo circus show.
What is your favourite Vietnamese food?
My favourite food is Pho and Banh Mi because it has a traditional taste and is very popular.
What is one thing you cannot live without?
One thing I can’t live without is a smile every day – I am a very happy person and love to make other people happy too.
What is your favourite city in the world and why?
I really like Paris in France because it is very beautiful, romantic, and has magical snowy winters. I would like to visit Karma Residence Normande in France and take a day trip there.
What are your hobbies and interests in your free time?
My hobbies in my free time are cooking and travelling, I love to explore new places!
Why did you choose to pursue a career in your field?
I chose to pursue a career in hospitality because I enjoy the daily joy of meeting and talking to new friends, and the energy when I bring a smile to our guests.
So lovely to see your feature on Van. Everyone on reception at Song Hoai is so friendly and welcoming but Van has such a big personality that you remember her long after you’ve arrived home from Vietnam.
Duong I was lucky to experience your wonderful smile and warm welcoming personality each day in August 2022 and went on tour with you to Ba Na Hill. You are a wonderful asset to the Karma Family as is the rest of the staff at Karma Song Hoai.
I will be back in March 2024 and for a longer stay this time.
Van was a terrific host when we visited Karma Song Hoai in Hoi An! We loved seeing her smile every time she was at the desk, and enjoyed the bike ride and coffee adventure she took us on in Hoi An. We very much look forward to seeing Van, and the rest of your wonderful staff at Karma Song Hoai, during our next visit to Hoi An.

Van was a bright happy hospitable and knowledgeable member of the Hoi an crew, it is was a delight to be greeted and assisted by Van, when you are at reception. Stayed there for 2 weeks on reopening June 2022, Van is an assest to Karma.
It is good to see the feature on Ms Van. All the staff at Karma Song Hoi and exceptionally amazing and the leadership of Ms Van for hospitalitality and comfort of all guest is few notches above. I was there recently in the month of March and felt like at home only, could ask for anything and everything; Ms Van with her smile will respond to all the questions. She made us play break the mud pots game and it was so much fun. Thank you Ms Van.
Van is extremely sweet and a very effective staff member at Karma Royal property at Vietnam. She makes every guest very comfortable and extend help wherever needed. We fondly call her ‘Doll’
