Although the worries of 2020 are well behind us, it’s still vital to stay healthy and safe whilst travelling around Karma Group’s magnificent destinations!
Travelling can be a great way to explore new places, experience different cultures, and meet new people. However, it can also be challenging to maintain a healthy lifestyle while on the road – Long flights, jet lag, unfamiliar foods, and a lack of routine can all take a toll on your physical and mental health.
Our team at Bali HQ have done their research and compiled some top health tips for your upcoming getaway – Whether you are exploring the Scottish countryside or leisurely cruising down the Egyptian Nile, here are 7 tips on how to stay healthy whilst travelling:
- Pack healthy snacks: Instead of relying on fast food or airport food, pack healthy snacks such as nuts, fruits, or energy bars. This will not only help you save money but also provide you with the necessary nutrients to keep you energised and healthy.
- Drink plenty of water: Dehydration can cause fatigue, headaches, and other health issues. Carry a refillable water bottle with you and drink plenty of water throughout the day. Avoid drinking tap water in countries where it may not be safe to drink, and instead, opt for bottled water or boiled water.
- Manage your expectations: Travelling can be unpredictable and things may not always go as planned. Be flexible and open-minded, and don’t put too much pressure on yourself. Enjoy the experience and embrace any challenges that come your way.
- Stick to your exercise routine: Travelling can disrupt your exercise routine, but it’s essential to stay active to maintain your physical health. You can go for a run or walk, try a local fitness class, or do some yoga – Many of our resorts offer fantastic activities to give you a helping hand!
- Take breaks: Travelling can be exhausting, so it’s important to take breaks and relax. Take some time for yourself, whether it’s reading a book, meditating, or simply taking a nap.
- Get enough sleep: Lack of sleep can affect your mood, energy levels, and overall health. Try to maintain a regular sleep schedule, even if you’re in a different time zone. Plus, avoid using electronics before bedtime.
- Plan ahead: If you’re an anxious traveller, before you travel make sure you plan everything in advance. This includes booking accommodation, transportation, and activities – Our Karma Concierge team can help you do all of this too! Having a plan can help reduce stress and anxiety.
