My Surreal Maldives Experience from Karma Fushi

By Siddanth Dessai, Karma Concierge, Goa

Last month, I had the most amazing trip to the Maldives, and it all started with a flight from Bangalore to Malé International Airport. As soon as I landed, it was easy to sense that I was in for a special experience. Our team greeted us at the airport and picked us up in a traditional Maldivian boat called a dhoni. The turquoise water was so clear, and the gentle breeze made the ride incredibly relaxing. It felt like the perfect introduction to island life.

We arrived at Karma Fushi and were warmly welcomed with cool, refreshing drinks that really hit the spot after the journey. As we settled in, I was led to my room, and it was even better than I had imagined – spacious, beautiful, and the perfect blend of modern comfort and tropical vibes. One of the amazing features of Karma Fushi is its stunning sun deck – with breathtaking views of the water it is the ideal spot to unwind, enjoy the ocean breeze, and completely immerse yourself in the peaceful atmosphere. It’s a true sanctuary in every sense of the word.

The real adventure began when we started exploring the island and experiencing the many water activities. Snorkelling was definitely one of the highlights of the trip! Swimming through the crystal-clear waters and seeing the vibrant coral reefs and colourful marine life up close was surreal. Kayaking was equally exciting—paddling through the calm lagoon, surrounded by such pristine beauty, made me feel completely connected to nature.

One evening, we took a short boat ride to a secluded sandbank to watch the sunset. The sight was nothing short of magical. The sky turned shades of pink, orange, and purple, reflecting off the water, and it felt like time just stood still. Standing there with the soft sand between my toes and watching the sun dip below the horizon was one of those moments I’ll never forget.

The food on the trip was just as fantastic as everything else. We got to try a variety of local dishes, but one that stood out to me was a Maldivian specialty called “Mas Huni.” It’s a dish made with finely shredded tuna, coconut, onions, and chilli, served with freshly baked flatbread. The flavours were so fresh and unique, a perfect representation of the local cuisine, and I found myself craving it throughout the trip.

Before I knew it, our 3-night, 4-day adventure came to an end. It was hard to leave such a stunning place behind, but the memories we made will stay with me forever. The Maldives is truly a slice of paradise, and I can’t wait to go back.
