DJ has met thousands of guests at Karma Group’s European properties, from all corners of the globe, and by popular demand, it’s finally his turn to have a voice.
The most adored member of the Karma team isn’t a person, but a cute French Bulldog with a big personality. With his brindle coat, a mix of rich brown and black streaks, DJ has become the heartbeat of every Karma Group property he visits. He’s constantly recognized, photographed, and showered with affection, spreading charm, curiosity, and the occasional mischief wherever he goes. This interview celebrates DJ’s unwavering support for the team, his legendary culinary tastes, his love for chasing hedgehogs, and, of course, his many adventures across Karma Group properties. Are you a DJ devotee? Stay tuned for incoming DJ merch for two legged and four legged folks alike!

DJ, thanks for stopping by for this interview. We know your schedule is hectic.
“You’re telling me. Between my 9am guest greetings, quality-control testing of breakfast bacon, and my afternoon nap strategy meetings, I’m basically booked solid. But I’ll always make time for my fans.”
Let’s start at the beginning, where were you born?
“Berlin, 17 September 2022. It was cool, but I quickly realized the city life wasn’t for me — too much pavement, not enough grass. I’m a countryside guy at heart.”
How did you end up at Karma?
“Well, my human, Dennis, adopted me at Christmas 2022. My first posting was in Bavaria – mountains, fresh air, sausages… basically dog heaven. Christmas there was magical: snow to roll in, giant fluffy piles to bury myself in, and plenty of pine trees to mark my territory. Nice for Dj! The only tricky part? The local dogs speak with a thick Bavarian accent – but we managed to find common ground. Oh and yes, I had to be on a leash in Germany. And it’s a little restricting for a free-spirited pup like me.
And are you still posted in Bavaria?
“No, mostly in Italy in Borgo di Colleoli since 2023 and it’s been amore at first sight. Between you and me, I have a soft spot for Italian cuisine: prosciutto, salsiccia and especially carbonara.
What exactly do you do in the sales team?
“I’m the Head of Hugs & Hospitality. I greet every guest personally, offer free tail wags, and occasionally sneak into photo ops. Dennis says sales have gone up 30% since I joined. Not really sure what that means to be honest, not very good with numbers! But I’m still waiting for my bonus.
And What’s your favorite Karma property?
“Borgo Colleoli in Italy, paws down. No leash, big fields, and the food… Prosciutto, steak, pasta scraps from the kitchen. I’ve even perfected the ‘sad puppy eyes’ look to get seconds. No takeaway needed.
We’ve heard there’s merch featuring your face. True?
“Look, I’m not at liberty to discuss this. But you know, I’m pretty popular so that wouldn’t surprise me. This John guy, I’m told he’s a pretty big deal at Karma, is really quite fond of me. So I think you’re looking at possibly seeing my cute face on mugs, T-shirts, or even someone’s laptop sticker.
So it’s really happening is it?
“Yes yes, and the best part? The proceeds of the merch will go to dog shelters. Very proud of that.”
You’ve become quite the celebrity among Members. Any memorable encounters?
“One British Member called me the ‘George Clooney of canines.’ Another taught me how to high-five. And one lovely couple tried to smuggle me back to their villa in a beach bag. Don’t worry, Dennis noticed.”
What’s your daily routine like at Karma Borgo di Colleoli?
“Quite busy really. Wake up. Patrol the breakfast area. Collect scratches from guests. Afternoon nap in the sun. Evening stroll through the olive groves. Dinner (usually steak if I’m lucky). Then repeat. It’s a tough life but someone has to do it.”
Any travel dreams?
“I’ve heard about the Scilly Isles, apparently a dog paradise. Helicopters sound fun but, you know, breathing issues. For now, I’m sticking to my Italian turf.”
Favorite human food?
“Prosciutto. Then bacon. Then literally anything anyone ‘accidentally’ drops.”
If you could give advice to other dogs visiting Karma Group properties, what would it be?
“Bring your humans, of course. Always do the ‘sit politely’ trick at breakfast , works every time. And never underestimate the power of the head tilt. Gets you everything.”
Who are your favourite guests at Karma?
“Everyone seems to love me a lot and I never say no to a belly rub. I’m a very good boy – I promise I don’t bite… unless it’s a piece of prosciutto.”
DJ, what’s the most unusual thing you’ve done at the office?
“Brought in a hedgehog. I have a little war going on with them. I just want to chase them around but they seem to be a little scared of me. Dennis wasn’t thrilled, but hey, you’ve got to keep morale up somehow.”
What’s next for DJ?
“More travel, more naps, more networking… Oh it’s lunch time, gotta go now but thanks for your time catch you later.
