Sneaking Fitness Into Your Karma Getaway

Travel has a way of slowing us down — long lunches, lazy poolside afternoons, indulgent dinners. But staying active doesn’t need to mean punishing gym sessions or rigid schedules. Intermittent exercise — short bursts of movement woven into your day — can keep energy levels high and moods buoyant, without ever feeling like “working out.”

On a Karma holiday, it’s easy to make it fun. Start simple: take the stairs instead of the lift, or swim a few vigorous lengths before settling into your sun lounger. A ten-minute morning yoga flow on your terrace can reset your body and mind before breakfast – or why not try a longer organised session with one of our instructors. Exploring on foot or by bicycle doubles as both adventure and cardio –  think cycling Tuscany’s rolling hills from Karma Borgo di Colleoli or beach walks along Bali’s wild west coast.

Even leisure activities can become mini workouts: paddleboarding across the lagoon in Goa, snorkelling offshore in Phuket or Samui, or dancing the night away at a local festival or a legendary Karma Beach party. Each is an opportunity to move, breathe, and reconnect with your surroundings.

Intermittent exercise is less about discipline, more about discovery. And when movement becomes part of the holiday, it enhances the indulgence — balancing body, mind, and the pure joy of being away — and yet being totally present.
