Power of Yoga

Given its Indian roots, it’s hardly a surprise that we are big fans of yoga here at Karma – indeed you’ll find yoga offerings at many of our Karma resorts. This ancient practice has evolved hugely just in the past few decades, becoming a global phenomenon that has transformed countless lives worldwide. Yoga offers a multitude of benefits, catering to diverse preferences and needs. Here are five popular types of yoga and their unique advantages:

Hatha Yoga: This traditional form focuses on physical postures (asanas), breathing exercises (pranayama), and meditation. It promotes flexibility, strength, and mental clarity, making it an excellent choice for beginners.

Vinyasa Yoga: Also known as “flow” yoga, Vinyasa synchronises movements with breath, creating a dynamic and energising practice. It builds stamina, improves cardiovascular health, and cultivates mindfulness.

Yin Yoga: A restorative practice that involves holding passive postures for extended periods. Yin Yoga targets the body’s connective tissues, promoting flexibility, joint mobility, and stress relief.

Ashtanga Yoga: This physically demanding style follows a set sequence of postures, combining strength, flexibility, and breath control. Ashtanga Yoga builds endurance, focus, and mental discipline.

Kundalini Yoga: Incorporating chanting, breathing techniques, and rapid movements, Kundalini Yoga aims to awaken the kundalini energy at the base of the spine. It enhances awareness, reduces anxiety, and promotes overall well-being.
