Bali’s Women Cricketers Rewrite the Script

When the Karma Bali Cricket League launched last May, it promised to ignite a new chapter for cricket on the island. A season on, it’s the women’s game that has stolen the spotlight. The Barongs, Bali’s trailblazing women’s team, remain unbeaten in the league—each match a showcase of skill, spirit and the rapid evolution of the sport in Indonesia.

At the heart of this rise is Andy Cottam, former Somerset cricketer and now Head Coach of Indonesia’s Women’s National Team. Under his watchful eye, every national squad player is sharpening form in the league, using competitive match play as a training ground. It’s a system that is clearly working, with performances drawing attention both locally and further afield.

For Karma, the partnership is about more than sponsorship. It’s about nurturing opportunity and building a lasting sporting culture in Bali—where community, talent and the thrill of competition converge. And right now, the women are definitely leading the charge!
