Cork & Cocoa Collaborations

It was International Chocolate Day on 13 September and we trust that many of you solemnly observed the special day with a large bar of the sweet stuff. But what about pairing your choco indulgence with a primo bottle of vino?

Believe it or not, wine and chocolate make great pairings – it’s an art that combines both science and pleasure. When done right, it can elevate both the cocoa and the grape to new heights of flavour. Even better, dark chocolate and good wine contain antioxidants that may support your long-term health – in moderation of course. Here’s our quick guide to wine meets chocolate heaven…

Let’s start with dark chocolate. Its rich, intense flavours find an excellent companion in Karma Chianti. The wine’s bold character and hints of cherry complement the cocoa’s depth, creating a sophisticated flavour profile that lingers on the palate.

For milk chocolate enthusiasts, consider the Karma Bordeaux. This well-balanced red, with its subtle tannins and fruity notes, harmonises wonderfully with the creamy sweetness of milk chocolate. The combination creates a smooth, indulgent experience.

White chocolate, with its buttery sweetness, pairs surprisingly well with any Karma Rosé. The wine’s crisp acidity and delicate fruit flavours provide a refreshing contrast to the chocolate’s richness, resulting in a light, playful combination.

For those feeling adventurous, try pairing flavoured chocolates with these wines. A sea salt dark chocolate might bring out unexpected notes in the Karma Chianti, while a caramel-infused milk chocolate could enhance the subtle sweetness in the Karma Bordeaux.

Remember, wine and chocolate pairing is subjective. Feel free to experiment with these Karma wines to discover your personal favourite combinations. Cheers to your flavourful adventure! Remember, personal preference plays a significant role in these pairings. Don’t be afraid to experiment and find your own perfect matches. After all, the joy is in the tasting!
