Supper Club Sophomore: Trullo, Madly, Deeply

Those who know Karma Group COO Vic Faulkner will be aware that he is a man of many passions and talents. Not least among them is cooking. Vic’s love of good food is matched by his aptitude in the kitchen – so it’s only right that he delivers our sophomore Supper Club offering, Trullo, Madly Deeply at a secret Bali location on 28 February.

What is Trullo? “It’s a book I bought after eating in Tim Siadatan’s Highbury restaurant and thinking it was hands down the best Italian in London,” says Vic. “He has an interesting background and a clear instructional style. That his restaurant is close to the Arsenal football stadium is an added bonus!”

As an unemployed 18 year old, Siadatan was selected to take part in Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen project, where he came top of his class. There followed a stint in Sydney working under chef and restaurateur Luke Mangan, before he returned to London to take up a role at the legendary St Johns where he was the youngest chef by a long shot.

He opened Trullo in 2010 and the rest is history as they say – the Italian eatery has remained one of the UK’s best reviewed restaurants ever since.

Vic’s copy of the Trullo cookbook is dog eared and liberally stained with sauces – and that’s a good thing. It’s one of his go-to’s in the Faulkner kitchen. He’s not giving too much away at this stage, but Members can expect an elevated culinary experience, with lots of foodie talk over the course of a slow, relaxed evening lubricated with plenty of excellent wines from the Karma cellar –  and above all, as Vic himself promises “dishes that will do Trullo proud.”
