Style, Spice & Summer Spectacles At Karma Beach

Karma Beach Bali at Karma Kandara heralded high summer with a celebration of fine food and fashion featuring the debut of two stellar new venues. Slow fashion boho elegance arrives in the shape of an exclusive new boutique from acclaimed fashion brand Miss Milne (check out the interview with designer Helen Milne in our second feature), while we opened the doors on The Beach Shack – Bali’s first and finest Indian seaside dining eatery.

Miss Milne’s entourage alongside Karma Group Members, Owners and guests converged on Temple Lounge, where exclusive Miss Milne pieces were put through their paces. After cocktails catwalks, guests boarded Karma Kandara’s newly minted hill tram to a theatrical entrance beachfront to Phoenix Bar, where DJ Edger provided a suitable sunset soundtracks.

Meanwhile, The Beach Shack devotees gathered for Kariana’s handcrafted cocktails and the ceremonial unveiling of a scroll bearing the evening’s theme: “Toast. Taste.” As the setting sun cast golden silhouettes as Karma Kandara ’s General Manager Rai Artawan, Global Executive Chef Joseph Antonishek, and brilliant The Beach Shack Chef Jeevraj – officially christened the restaurant. Then an unexpected showstopper: Bollywood dancers gliding across the sand in a riot of silk and spinning colour.

Chef Jeevraj transformed dinner into theatre, presenting each dish with personal stories that elevated the dining experience. His Madras Fish Curry arrived swimming in a rich and complex sauce, while his expertly charred and deliciously tender tandoori chicken was a revelation. The feast ended with sensual belly dance performance before fire dancers painted swirls of flame across the night and DJ Tritala had guests dancing long after midnight.
