When it comes to paradisiacal tropical archipelagos, few destinations can compete with Koh Samui – which is also the name of the largest of the 42 islands and islets that make up the grouping. Koh Samui island has long been close to our hearts. Karma Group Chairman John Spence has a long-held affinity with the island, since it was his very first destination in Southeast Asia 40 years ago. It has developed a great deal since then of course, yet still retains the old world charm that he remembers from that first visit.
Which is why we’re delighted to announce a brand new acquisition on the island: Karma Panalee. The stunning new property is just 20 minutes from the airport in a prime, virtual beachfront location, bringing together a mix of spacious rooms set in lush tropical gardens.
Karma Panalee is set close to the shore along the tranquil Bang Po Beach and just a short walk from the serene Mae Nam Beach. It’s worth noting too that the island’s only Michelin ‘Bib Gourmand’ eatery is a five minute stroll away – a fabled beach noodle shack serving an authentic range of Thai dishes in an unpretentious setting.
The accommodations at Karma Panalee are a seamless blend of contemporary comfort and traditional Thai charm. Guests can choose from a range of beautifully-appointed rooms with balconies, all characterised by the combination of artful design, comfort and convenience that is a Karma signature. Amenities include air-conditioning as standard, flat-screen TVs, and complimentary Wi-Fi, with luxurious beds and en suite bathrooms.
Karma Panalee also features a beautiful pool lined with palm trees and tropical flora, while the on-site restaurant serves a mix of locally inspired dishes and international favourites. The resort’s proximity to the beach allows for easy access to water sports, beachside relaxation, and breathtaking sunsets.
Koh Samui itself is a treasure trove of attractions and activities. Explore the lush interior, visit the famous Big Buddha Temple, or enjoy the vibrant nightlife in Chaweng. Nature enthusiasts will love the island’s waterfalls, snorkelling spots, and marine parks, easily accessible by boat.
