Karma Vythiri Sets the Tone in Kerala’s Highlands

First check-in has happened. Karma Vythiri is now live, and the first wave of members is already on the ground. If you’ve been waiting to see what the rework looks like, this is your window – before the early slots disappear.

Set in the Western Ghats above the Malabar coast, Wayanad trades beaches for altitude: coffee estates, forested ridgelines and cooler air that makes mornings usable. The resort itself has been reimagined as a low-density retreat, villas and suites set into the hillside, broad decks facing the valley, and a sharper focus on local material and craft. Expect Kerala-led menus, a tighter wellness programme, and easy access to trails, waterfalls and wildlife corridors that define the region.

Opening night set the tone. A traditional aarti tika and coconut palm garlands on arrival, then Garudam Thookkam and Mudiyattam on the lawns, ritual performance rather than stage show. There was a practical edge too: a coconut weaving workshop and a kitchen led by Avijit Bhunia that leaned into regional produce.

This is a soft launch in the best sense: operational, open, but still quiet. Lock in dates now and you’ll see the place before it settles into peak-season demand.
