Karma Tashi Opens its Doors to the Himalayas

High in the misty embrace of Dharamshala, where prayer flags flutter against snow-capped peaks and the Dalai Lama’s presence sanctifies the air, Karma Group’s newest sanctuary has quietly opened its doors. Karma Tashi welcomed its first guests on 20 May, with the inaugural ribbon-cutting ceremony performed by members Rita and Bharat Kumar Tayal—a fitting tribute to the community spirit that defines this remarkable retreat.

The evening prior, traditional pujas blessed the property, infusing the mountain air with ceremonial incense and ancient chants. Chef Kamal then orchestrated a culinary debut featuring Himachali treasures: the aromatic cha gosht and comforting aloo palda, dishes that speak to the soul of this mystical region.

Our first guests have been struck by the property’s seamless integration into Dharamshala’s landscape set on a slope between mountains and lake. Beyond the thoughtfully appointed accommodations, the resort offers archery and a host of other outdoor activities from rafting, trekking and paragliding to cricket, all against the majestic backdrop of the Dhauladhar range—where Buddhist monasteries dot distant hillsides and the scent of rhododendrons perfumes the crisp mountain air.

Karma Tashi is your gateway to one of India’s most profound destinations, where seekers and travellers alike discover that true luxury lies in moments of transcendent stillness amid the world’s most sacred peaks.
