Karma Kaleidoscope: Yuletide Adventures in Bali

It’s safe to say that the 12 Days of Karma: Karma Kandara edition has acquired fabled status – a veritable yuletide spectacular. This isn’t just any festive season experience – it’s a sensory journey that marries Western holiday traditions with Bali’s unique brand of tropical hedonism in a luxury clifftop sanctuary like no other. Here are just some of the highlights…

Kicking off on 23 December with the traditional tree lighting at Temple Lounge, the programme swiftly moves into high gear. Christmas Eve brings a twist to the usual fare, with di Mare restaurant offering a three-course sharing menu for brunch, followed by the beloved “Feast of the Seven Fishes” at Karma Beach – a nod to Italian-American tradition that’s become a Karma Kandara staple. Christmas Day is a relaxed affair, with a sumptuous buffet at di Mare from 12 midday – 4pm, with Santa making an appearance!

For those who’ve enjoyed the Boxing Day BBQ Brawl in previous years, get ready for another culinary showdown. Chef Stefan and Executive Chef Joseph go head-to-head, pitting South African Braai against classic American BBQ.

The global culinary journey continues with the Royal Rayunan Dinner, a Balinese culinary spectacle featuring a Barong performance, and the ‘Enchanted Arabian Nights’ where Middle East flavours mix with belly dancing and fire performances- both Karma classics that have been fine-tuned based on Member feedback. Viva La España on 29 December brings not one but two paella feasts to Karma Beach, plus the obligatory flamenco and lashings of sangria.

New Year’s Eve ups the ante with “Dia de los Muertos” fiesta down at Karma Beach, featuring legendary Ibiza DJ Jon Sa Trinxa, live entertainment, a fashion show and of course a Mexican theme throughout.

Each day there are a host of wellness offerings to offset the indulgence, including morning fitness classes ranging from yoga to boxing. The kids’ programme has also been enhanced, with daily immersive experiences designed to keep young ones engaged while parents indulge.

As always, the 12 Days culminate in the signature Burning Man-style bonfire on 03 January. This year, expect a larger effigy and an extended beach party to close out the festivities in true Karma style.

With daily changing DJ lineups at Karma Beach, bespoke cocktails, and rolling spa promotions, the 12 Days of Karma promises to be the ultimate way for Members to cap off 2024 and welcome 2025.
