Art of the Eight Limbs

Nestled in the azure waters of the Gulf of Thailand, Koh Samui isn’t just about pristine beaches and swaying palms – it’s also a hotbed for one of Thailand’s most electrifying cultural exports: Muay Thai. This ancient martial art, known as the “Art of Eight Limbs,” pulses through the island’s veins, offering visitors a thrilling glimpse into Thailand’s sporting soul. From the rhythmic thud of shins against heavy bags to the roar of crowds at local fight nights, Muay Thai is an unmissable part of Samui’s vibrant tapestry.

Now it just so happens that our very own recently opened beachfront resort Karma Panalee is neighbours with one of the foremost Muay Thai training facilities in Koh Samui and Bangkok. The Sor Dechapant Samui Muay Thai Gym is owned by our Thai partner, an avid Muay Thai enthusiast. The gym has around 100 students in total, including 20 professional boxers, 10 of whom are absolute top level fighters. The gym’s head coach is Sanghiran Lukbanyai, a renowned former champion who won titles in both Muay Thai and boxing.

This collaboration opens doors for Karma Group Members to dive headfirst into the heart-pounding world of Thai boxing. Imagine starting your day with a sunrise training session, learning devastating elbow strikes and lethal knee techniques from battle-hardened champions. Or, for those preferring ringside thrills, picture yourself at a pulsating fight night, the air thick with anticipation as warriors clash in an ancient dance of combat. Whether you’re throwing punches or cheering from the sidelines, this partnership promises an unforgettable taste of Thailand’s most exhilarating sport.
