Architectural Award-Winner Landing in Bali

Karma Group’s newest creation on Bali’s quiet east coast has already caught the world’s attention: Karma Candidasa, designed with the acclaimed architectural studio Patterns, has just been awarded Silver in the Hospitality Architecture category at the Architecture Madrid Awards 2025.

Rooted in contemporary Balinese design, the resort rises from volcanic ground like an extension of the island’s geology. Faceted stone volumes echo the angular strata of Mount Agung, their surfaces clad in local volcanic rock that absorbs light, shade and sea breeze in equal measure. Pathways slip between planted courtyards, revealing long views to the Indian Ocean one moment and pockets of cool seclusion the next.

At its heart, a shared hub — reception, dining spaces and a terraced pool with bar — creates a natural gathering point where guests drift between water, landscape and open sky. It’s architecture as terrain: fluid, textural and deeply connected to place. As construction unfolds, Karma Group Members can expect a resort where culture, geology and design converge in a way that feels both utterly new and unmistakably Balinese. Watch this space — the island’s eastern edge is coming into its own.
