Cornwall and its offshore islands are undoubtedly among the jewels of tourism in the British Isles – indeed this part of Britain is sometimes described as the ‘English Riviera’ thanks to its stunning coastline, pretty villages and relatively clement weather. Suffice to say, competition in the hospitality sector is fierce! So we’re delighted to report that our beachfront resort on St. Martin’s in the Isles of Scilly just scooped two coveted awards at this year’s Cornwall Tourism Awards – a Silver for ‘Dog Friendly Business of the Year’, while Karma St. Martin’s destination restaurant Sir Cloudesley Shovell won Bronze in the ‘Restaurant of the Year’ category.
Anyone who’s visited Karma St. Martin’s will know that we treat our four legged guests with the same cordiality and respect as their biped companions – after all, given the enduring support they provide us, they’re perhaps more deserving of a holiday than we are – and what better place than the island of St. Martin’s with quiet tracks, endless stretches of beach, wild heather-strewn bluffs and a myriad interesting things to be sniffed out…
The Sir Cloudseley Shovell restaurant meanwhile matches its hallowed seashore location with delicious British Cuisine given French and Mediterranean flourishes and an emphasis on fresh, locally grown or reared produce and ingredients. Under the capable guidance of Head Chef Anthony Hinds, the restaurant has been the recipient of multiple AA Rosettes for excellence.
Currently closed for the Winter, Karma St. Martin’s will reopen its doors at the end of March – and we can promise, Springtime in the Isles of Scilly is a sight to behold. So go on, treat yourself, your loved ones (including your best furry friend) to a magical holiday in England’s secret archipelago…
Yet again congratulations to Scott and the team, well deserved recognition of the excellent service provided. We look forward to our next visit in 2024! Many thanks.
