The People of Karma

This week, we shine a light on the exceptional people who make the Karma Group what it is today – from Members celebrating life’s special occasions to the team members creating unforgettable experiences around the world.

Staff Spotlight: The People Behind the Magic

Behind every seamless journey is a dedicated Karma Concierge team member who listens, anticipates and delivers. This week, we’re delighted to introduce you to three of the members of the dynamic team who make sure that the Karmaverse is never unplugged.

Meet Riri Soboro, the Bali Insider who turns wish lists into reality.

Tell us a little about yourself and your role at Karma Concierge Bali.

My name is Theneria Monthessory (Riri), and I am part of the Karma Concierge Bali – Curated Event team. My role is to assist Karma Members with holiday planning and reservations for curated experiences.

What inspired you to pursue a career in hospitality and guest experiences?
I enjoy helping people and making them feel welcome. Hospitality gives me the chance to be part of someone’s holiday and help create a good experience for them.

What do you enjoy most about helping Karma Members plan their holidays and experiences?
I enjoy helping members find the best options for their stay and seeing them happy when everything is arranged smoothly.

You’ve probably recommended countless experiences over the years. What’s one Bali experience every visitor should try at least once?
Every visitor should try watching the sunset in Uluwatu or Jimbaran. It is one of the most beautiful experiences in Bali.

What is the most memorable member interaction or success story you’ve had so far?
The most memorable moments are when I can help with a last-minute request, which makes the member’s holiday less stressful and more enjoyable.

When Members ask for something unique or unusual, how do you create the perfect experience for them?
I listen carefully to what they need, check the best available options, and coordinate with the right team to make sure everything is arranged properly.

Beyond the famous attractions, what’s your favourite hidden gem in Bali that you’d recommend to Members?
I would recommend Sidemen. It is peaceful, beautiful, and perfect for members who want to see a quieter side of Bali.

How do you spend your free time when you’re not helping Members create unforgettable holidays?
I like spending time with my family and friends, trying new places to eat, and relaxing after work.

What do you love most about living and working in Bali?
I love Bali’s culture, nature, and friendly people, and I was lucky enough to marry one of them. It is a beautiful place to live and work, and I truly enjoy sharing its charm with our members.

What does exceptional hospitality mean to you?
Exceptional hospitality means making people feel welcomed, cared for, and valued. It is about listening, being helpful, and giving sincere service from the heart.

Meet John Tony, the Karma Concierge India team leader who believes the best journeys begin long before check-in.

Tell us a little about yourself and your role within the Karma Concierge India team.

I come from a technical background and have prior experience in public and customer relations. I have been with Karma Group for over 1.5 years, starting as a Concierge/Customer Care Executive. During this time, I have gained a deep understanding of Karma’s products, membership programmes, and incredible destinations. Recently, I was promoted to Team Leader for Concierge Inbound India, and I look forward to supporting both our members and team in delivering exceptional experiences.

What was your very first impression of Karma Group when you joined?
I was curious to learn more about the timeshare industry and the unique membership model offered by Karma Group. What impressed me most was the opportunity to serve a community of well-travelled members while being part of a company that delivers premium holiday experiences across the globe.

What is one lesson you’ve learned from interacting with members from different parts of the world?
Every member is unique, and interacting with people from different cultures has taught me the importance of listening, empathy, and adaptability. I’ve also learned how much our members value genuine service, meaningful experiences, and sharing their positive experiences with family and friends through referrals.

If you could spend one week at any Karma Group resort, which would it be, and what would your ideal day look like?
I would choose Karma Kandara in Bali. My ideal day would start with a relaxing breakfast overlooking the ocean, followed by exploring the resort’s facilities, spending time at the beach, UTV/ Buggy adventures, enjoying local cuisine, and ending the day with a beautiful sunset and dinner by the sea. It offers the perfect combination of luxury, relaxation, and breathtaking scenery.

What is the most challenging request you’ve successfully helped a member with?
One of the most challenging situations involved helping a member with multiple booking changes due to unexpected travel disruptions. Coordinating with different departments and finding suitable alternatives within limited availability required patience and teamwork. In the end, we secured an option that met the member’s expectations, and they were extremely appreciative of the support provided.

What’s one item you never travel without?
My phone and a power bank. Staying connected and having access to travel information at all times is essential.

What is one travel tip you find yourself giving members most often?
Book early whenever possible. Early planning provides better availability and allows the resort team to prepare for any special occasions or preferences. Sharing celebration details in advance also helps create memorable and personalised experiences.

If you could instantly master any skill or hobby, what would it be?
I would love to master advanced communication skills and learn additional languages. Being able to connect with people from different backgrounds more effectively would be both personally and professionally rewarding.

What is your go-to way to unwind after a busy day at work?
I enjoy going on motorcycle rides and spending time outdoors. I am also focusing more on fitness, which is a great way to relax and recharge after a busy day.

Which destination is currently at the top of your personal travel bucket list and why?
Japan is currently at the top of my travel bucket list. I’m fascinated by its unique blend of modern technology, rich traditions, beautiful landscapes, and strong culture of care for animals and pets. It offers the perfect balance of history, innovation, natural beauty, and unforgettable travel experiences.

Meet Chris Botsis, the Karma Concierge Europe specialist who believes you haven’t travelled well until you’ve connected with the culture, the landscape and the food!

Tell us a little about yourself and your role within the Karma Concierge EU team.

I originally studied Fine Art and have a background in luxury retail and visitor services in the cultural sector. As a concierge, I assist members with their holiday plans, arranging their travel logistics and itinerary, and efficiently addressing any queries. I communicate directly with members over the phone and via email.

What does a typical day look like when assisting Karma Group members with their holiday plans?
It can be very busy, and multitasking is very important. It is a delight to speak to people from all over the world to make sure they make the most out of their membership. I am very lucky to have some excellent co-workers, and there is a great deal of support.

What do you enjoy most about working at Karma Concierge?
The satisfaction of receiving positive feedback from members and knowing I contributed to them having a marvellous vacation. Makes all the hard work worth it.

What has been your most memorable interaction with a member so far?
The people who stand out to me are always the ones who have kindness in their voices. You can tell a lot about a person by the sound of their voice.

What do you think makes a great holiday experience?
For me personally, it is very important to get in touch with the local culture. I always seek out cultural activities that broaden my mind. I also look for landscapes that I would not normally see in my daily life. So often I try to escape urban environments when on holiday. Finally, food also plays a big role. You have not travelled well if you have not eaten well!

Which Karma Group destination would you most recommend to members, and why?
Karma St Martin’s is a very special place in an incredibly beautiful part of the world. It takes a bit of effort to get there, but it is worth it. A truly serene place, something which has become rarer these days. I admit I am biased, because I have spent some time in Cornwall, and the Isles of Scilly have always held a special allure for me.

What are three words that best describe your approach to customer service?
Honesty, Integrity, Friendliness.

What is one thing your colleagues would say about you?
I have a very loud laugh and generally have a positive outlook.

Outside of work, what are some of your favourite hobbies or interests?
As mentioned before, my background is in Fine Art, and painting is a big part of my life. Now it’s summer in Athens, and you will find me in an open-air cinema and on weekends swimming. I am also a massive bookworm.

Complete this sentence: “The best part about helping Karma Group Members is…”
…building a relationship of trust with members and hearing about their satisfaction with the service I provide.”
